CHECKING OIL LEVEL IN EXTENDED OUTAGES

Briggs & Stratton, GE Milbanks
This procedure work for the current Briggs and Stratton and OEM Brands 8 & 10 KW

Step 1
Turn off the breaker and wait approximately 10 seconds to turn off generator.

Step 2
After running for 10 seconds, turn off Generator. (It's a good idea to let generator cool down for a few minutes before moving to the next step).

Step 3
Remove screw from the top of the generator. (There are 5 screws around the top

Step 4
Remove yellow oil dipstick and check the oil level

Step 5
Oil should be within the market range on the dipstick as shown.​

If oil is below marking, add a small amount of oil and keep checking.

​Be careful not to add too much oil.

Step 6
After checking and adding oil if necessary; replace the dipstick
Replace generator cover and screws.
Press the auto button on the generator to turn the generator back on (If power is still out generator will start).
If generator starts, let it run for approximately 10 seconds then turn breaker back on.
